Didn’t you forget the VIA openbook? It’s not on the market yet but it sounds interesting.
Unfortunately they are making those mini-laptops smaller and smaller but the battery life is staying more or less the same (3h on average max 5h with extended battery and no wifi). I wonder if going to another architecture, say ARM, could make things better (I think the worst problem here is that an ARM device would run WinCE only and could not be marketed to “common people” as a “real” pc).
The solid state drive is already a good step in the way of reducing power consumption, now if there was a way to make a screen that does not need to be backligheted...

Yep, I read some things about the VIA subnotebook but I forgot to write them in the post. :)btw, check out the MSI Wind review: WindowsXP, with LCD brightness low and wireless on, says it has 7 hours and 10 minutes of juice! :)
... and the MSI doesnt use a SSD but an HD at 5400 rpm.

But I dont think this is some thing which is related to BIOS settings, rather I would say may be some thing is not right at the partition table…laptop () (URL) - 22 08 '08 : 06:35
