I'm Legend

Yesterday I saw this great movie with Will Smith.
The story starts in 2009 when a terrible disease will kill 90% of the world pupulation. Will Smith, as you could imagine! :), belongs to the 10% along with other nice friends of him: I don't want to write any spoiler so you'll see!
Great movie, really: suggested!

I found it horrible. I just read the novel by Matheson and I really liked it. The movie has no sense if compared with the novel, but imho it has no sense at all… where is the story??
******SPOILER******
A man going around alone, making experiments for months, then a lady and her child appear (how? from where?), vampires attack, he find the cure (how??) and then die, she find the community (how? they are in a mountain and she had no maps).
Maybe this is my disappointment respect to the book, but I found the movie itself very flat…
PS: E’ necessario discuterne in inglese? :P

No, it’s not mandatory to discuss it in english. :)I just took the decision to write almost everything on my blog in english for training. My english is so horrible (specially, when I’ve to write) and this is a good way to keep me in exercise.
BTW:
I heard that the novel by Matheson is a lot better than the movie, specially because the story is well (and better) developed than in the movie.
But: What I like from the movie, is the atmosphere created by the director and how Will Smith plays.
************SPOILER**************
The biggest disappointment for me was that – almost at the beginning of the movie – Smith says that seems the creature lost any human nature, survival instinct included (when he captured the female).
Then, during the movie, Will Smith has been captured by the creatures with a trap. ...so? it seems like the creatures are getting smarter. Why they didnt develop the story in that direction?

************SPOILER (FROM BOOK TOO!!)**************It seemed to me a not well done attempt to purge from Matheson’s novel the disturbing element: the vampires victory over humans. But this is central in the story. Removing it leaves only the desperation of the human for it’s loneliness.
- END OF SPOILER *****
Yes the sense of desperation and going crazy is well represented. I agree, Will Smith did a good work and the movie transmit desperation.
If only they followed the original story, this would be a great movie
