Disturbia

Another good movie I watched.

Disturbia

A guy, after the loss of his father, has some problems at school and got house arrest. After a couple of tries to kill the spare time with videogames, music and gizmodos, he begins with a new hobby: observing his neighbours.
A good thriller!

A refreshing header ;)

Just to inform anyone is reading my blog through RSS (explanation, my feed RSS and Atom for the entries and the feed for the comments) that I've updated my header.

new orangeek header

I put apart the prior header, inspired by our amazing Star Wars set on flickr and I used the logo that I designed (well, actually drawn by myself) years ago.

I must thank Darkman (as already did) who vectorialized my opera! :)

CVD

Come volevasi dimostrare.

["Culo", CC licensed picture by loungerie]

The Bucket List: take a look!

Yesterday I watched "The Bucket List" ("Non è mai troppo tardi" in italian): it's the story of 2 elderly men (Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman) with cancer and just six months of life remaining. They decide to take a world trip and do all the things they never did in their whole life.

Good movie and it's definitely worth 90 minutes of your spare time and even a ticket at the cinema! :)

Don't waste your time with Suburban Girl (and next time remember me to check out the imdb page)

Instead, use your time to download and watch Damages, this great TV Show !

Who owns our data?

Who controls the data (our data) that daiily we create and upload to social networks?

Think at your account on flickr, youtube, twitter, jaiku, linkedin and so on.
Think at your pictures, videos, contacts, relationships, links.

It's not just a matter of wasted time: it's a problem of control.

We don't control our own data: every platform we use lock-in us in the same environment, raising the costs to come out and join another network.

A likely solution could be the DataPortability Project.

Quoto da ansa.it.

Why I love Gizmodo

UPDATE 15 Jan 2008: The new answer (to life, the universe and everything) from Gizmodo. Read it here. Chapeau.

This is why I love Gizmodo.

During the last CES, a guy from Gizmodo (Brian Lam) used a TV-B-Gone to switch off ghostly televisions and monitors (even during the Motorola's show).

Damn it! [I'm here.... do you hear me???]

Damn it! I'm pretty sure I was the first in Italy to write about the Asus EEE PC, back on 6. November 2007, a laptop that I'd love.[1]

Now the italian bloggers woke up and they're writing about that piece of hardware... and...

NOBODY LINKS ME!!!! :/

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, MAN??? :)

["Sour Tears", CC licensed picture by mattnjuzz]

They're linking other bloggers that wrote about the EEE PC two months later.

And you tell me about "blogger's democracy" ??? :)

Mantellini did the same.

[1] As you can see on this search on google [keyword: "asus eee"; sorted by date; last page of results], no one wrote about the EEE PC before me, in italian. Even if you want to consider all the results in any language, the first is on 27 October 2007 and is kinda asian, the second (always on 27 Oct 2007) is from notebookreview.com.

PS it's ironic, you know? Well, it's not.

UPDATE 12 Jan 2008: OMG! Thanks to my tears :), Andrea Beggi (aka "da italian blogger") recognized me as the first italian blogger that wrote about the shiny new Asus toy. And I blog it! linked my blog! How can I insert AdWords?! :)

I'm Legend

I'm Legend

Yesterday I saw this great movie with Will Smith.
The story starts in 2009 when a terrible disease will kill 90% of the world pupulation. Will Smith, as you could imagine! :), belongs to the 10% along with other nice friends of him: I don't want to write any spoiler so you'll see!
Great movie, really: suggested!

MP3 Overload [keep your music library organized]

Since the beginning of P2P Era, I've to fight daily with the overload. As if the RSS overload isn't enough, another issue is related with music files, mp3s.

My personal strategy, that I just began a couple of months ago, is to separate music files between "Library" and "Favorites".

Trust me (said the voting machine)

Great article by the New York Times about voting machines: ten pages long (my english made me need hours to read it through :/ ) and great analyses about flaws, risks and vicious circles. Conclusions? No voting systems is flawless, but there are few that bring way too many risks. Strongly suggested.

American Pie BetaHouse and American Gangster

Since I'm sick (I got temperature), these days I'm using most of my time watching movies... Below a couple I saw yesterday.
American Pie Beta House

Nothing special, actually. Well, it will make you laugh but I definitely prefer the first episodes of this american saga... This one, in my opinion, is the grossest. The worst thing is that we miss Stiffmaster played by Seann William Scott... you know what I mean. :)

American Gangster

I enjoyed a lot this movie. Really. The beginning isn't so fast, but then how the characters are designed and how the story develops itself will glue you on the couch. Great Denzel Washington (as usual, I've to say), a good Russel Crowe but, actually, the best of the movie are the story and the Denzel Washington's character. It's based on a true story and somehow is similar to another movie I liked, based on a true story about a drug dealer and his business: Blow with Johnny Depp.

As motorbike-addicted as I am, I check regularly motoblog. A great section of that blog is "Sfide epocali" (read: Greatest Battle of all time) with links to good videos about racing.
The last post I read is about Pierfrancesco Chili (english wikipedia, personal site).

Sweet child of mine

Do you like Guns & Roses? Does this song sound familiar?

It's "Sweet child of mine" played by indian artists and with electric sitars as well!
Just for the records, the original version by Axl , performed in Tokyo in 1992, buuuut: since it seems Axl drank way too much No.7 before that performance (listen to the voice!), right after you'll find the music video as well.
